Nigella Seed Pods

These dried nigella seed pods (AKA love in a mist pods) come in a generous bunch as shown in the photos, about 16″ long. This season we have a striking, curated collection of three main varieties: black pod (actually more of a lustrous deep burgundy purple-red), burgundy striped, and bright green pod; tucked in between are a few smaller, winged pods.

While every bundle is different, the photos are representative of what you’ll receive; and I carefully select each for an attractive combination.

You may find some tiny black nigella seeds in your package… if you have a sunny spot in your garden, plant them any time during growing season and you can grow your own treasure! I have loved nigella ever since I was a kid and appreciate it for its generosity: easy to grow, trouble free, holds its bright color when dried, and has an untamed quality to it that I can’t quite articulate. The contrast of the big balloon-like pods with the feathery foliage is so perfect. If you already love nigella you know what I mean 🙂 My goal is to grow the loveliest nigella and I trial different varieties and growing conditions each year to see how it performs best.
